125€ satellites : advice from a pro !

Winner of the Lyon-Vert Super Satellite in Season 1 of the Partouche Poker Tour, François Tardieu is one of the best french players around.  He’s a very technical poker player and also a bit of a backgammon specialist.

François speaks exclusively to partouche-game.com to offer his advice on how best to approach the 125€ satellites during the PPT Season 2.

Start of the game: choice of hand is crucial

« The objective here is to keep your stack, while hoping for the double or triple with some big hands.  During the first stages, I would also advise you to only play pairs that are higher than 10 with Ace/King or Ace/Queen.  Don’t worry about folding marginal hands ».

Middle of the game: Operation blind stealing

« In a sit ‘n’ go, the blinds increase very quickly and rapidly become much sought after.  The moment the blinds are worth at least 20% of your stack/chips, it’s vital that you let them go.  Don’t hesitate in being aggressive.  In this kind of tournament, a lot of players use the same ‘play safe’ tactics from start to finish.  This benefits the blinds stealer who will take advantage, to increase his stack towards the last rounds ».

End of the game: « Push or fold »

« Most of the time when there are only 3 or 4 players left at the table, the blinds are so high in relation to everyone’s stack that there is only one way you can play: go ‘all in’ or fold.  Again, this is often where aggressive players will have the advantage over the players who are more inclined to play safe. Here, the value of your hand is no longer important.  It’s just as acceptable to raise with a 7/2 unsuited, as it is to fold with a pair of aces.  The sole objective is to qualify, and that’s the way you have to look at it».

Alain Roy : “I’m living a dream” !

Alain Roy, winner of the PPT !

Starting out with a considerable chip lead at the beginning of this head’s up (8 500 versus 1 500 000), Alain Roy finished victor of the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event and winner of 1 million euros, with a pair of 9’s beating a pair of 7’s held by Rinaldi.

24 000 participants across France, 480 players registered for the Main Event, more than 80 hours of poker, and 1 million euros for Alain Roy, who qualified for this tournament via a €125 satellite heat. The dream became reality and the Partouche Poker Tour has most definitely made a place for itself among the greatest poker events in the world.

A breathtaking final, without a moment of dead time, charismatic and talented players, impeccable organization and, above all, the pleasure of the players themselves who, in the space of a week at the Palm

And don’t forget to follow the PPT Live!, the Finale table aired on www.partouchepokertour.com!

Ready for the final table ?

48! The magical number has been reached at last after two crazy hours of repeated outrageous hands. Arnaud Mattern almost left us after losing a big game. By paying to see his straight on the river, Patrice Sitbon doubles his stack at 850 000 and reduces Matterns’ to almost nothing, although enough to participate in Day 3.

The day has been especially intense and the pros have suffered a lot. Among the favourites who made it through the day, let us mention the presence of Gus Hansen, who has a very comfortable stack, which should allow him to engage in the final run in excellent conditions. Let us also note the presence of the Mizrachi brothers, Noah Schwartz and Scotty N’Guyen who hung in there, despite a much reduced stack.

At the end of Day 4, there will only be 8 left. Eight of them able to dream of the first place and the million euros. Eight of them who will make history in French poker by participating in the biggest poker tournament ever organized in our country: the Partouche Poker Tour!

History is in the making…
